I believe it's about time we got organized for the next Base Design competition.
I will take some time this week to prepare a criterion and a sample base.
Those who wish to participate as judges should make themselves known to Ergophobia. We have room for 5 total judges.
Everyone else, get tweaking!

I totally agree. I'll be making up some rules so stay tuned... I suppose we could start taking submissions in one or two weeks. I think though, that we should make the period in which bases can be submitted, should be a little longer than last time. (to make sure we have a decent amount of bases) _________________ Known Bugs and Workarounds - Modding Howto - Walkthrough - Research Guide |

Its finally arrived! exams ought to have finished in ~a week, so there should be enough time for me to tweak my island 1 base.
Are we allowed more than one entry (if dif island 1 bases)? Just wondered, as I'd be curious as to which of these two bases I'm designing would score the highest. _________________ Designer of the first infinite trap system

you mean all this time I've been building my island 1 bases the hard way (no cheats etc., waiting 1 hour for my minions to build a room) and I could've done it all instantaneously?!
Problem with island 1 is there's so much less space than Island 2 that I can't really encorporate the best ideas of both bases into each other - its more going with one idea or the other. I'll probly wait till I see the marking criteria before I decide.
Now, all I need to do is convince a friend to play EG and for them to enter my other base for the competition..... _________________ Designer of the first infinite trap system

We will be taking into account the fact that certain rooms become available at certain times in the game progression. Bases that would be impossible to build by one not using cheats, will be docked significantly.
Remember also, that certain technologies are not available on island 1. If your base has them, it will be docked. _________________ My Trapmaking Base!

'Forbidden' items will include:
- Brain Washer
- Cryo Chamber
- Automat
- Auto Surgeon
- AI Supercomputer
- Environment Chamber
- Greenhouse
- Sawblades
- Money Madness
- Misdirection
- Monkey-inna-Box
- Damned Damsel
- Giant Magnet
- Piranha Tank
- Nut Rupture
- Exploding Palmtree
- Microfilm Viewer
- Evil Cabinet
That's basically all. Points will be deducted for every type of illegal items in your base. I decided to allow the Evil Atrium since it's made available through the AoI pack. _________________ Known Bugs and Workarounds - Modding Howto - Walkthrough - Research Guide |

Yes, the competition is based on Island 1, so those things are not allowed. _________________ "Please refrain from... (insert stupid thing you were doing here)."

Does that mean that a base will lose points if it requires extensive re-modelling, deletion of connecting rooms and so forth? |

What they're saying is that only if the base can be built without cheating will it be allowed. If it requires several stages of development that's fine - it just has to be possible to build the base without cheating.
Using cheats to make the design and build easier is ok. Making it possible is not. _________________ Destined for greatness, but pacing myself. |

Yes. I often on Island 1 do remodeling when more rooms become available. I plan where I want the rooms and make deletable corridors to that spot. later I'll delete the corridor and replace it with another room. That's all OK.
I guess I can't dock for the layout itself as long as it has only available rooms. I can dock for unavailable rooms or items or technologies or loot.
Basically, you need to get an island 1 base to the point just before you move to island 2.
Hey Ergo, should we make keeping your notoriety low a factor? _________________ My Trapmaking Base!

Hey, if they want to have 500 notoriety at that point, they're free to do so. They might want to try out their design to see if it can stand the heat of three superagents at a time...
I'll just not recommend it, but I say they are free to do so. Of course, they'll have to keep room for a reasonable amount of lockers, because the design also has to work with lower notoriety, but that's the only 'but'. _________________ Known Bugs and Workarounds - Modding Howto - Walkthrough - Research Guide |
