| Evil Genius on Sky 1 |
 |
| Posted on July 25, 2004 at 14:24 by Jon |
Forum member Hunter_Havok kindly sent in the following snippet of info today... make of it what you will!
There's a 'first glance' preview of Evil Genius on 'Gamesville' (Sky One). It was most likely filmed a while back but there was a mention of a Q1 2005 release date. I think it will be repeated later today on Sky One mix but I'm not sure.
Just in case you were worried, I currently have absolutely no reason to think that the date will be anything like that far away.

| New Gamespot Dev Diary |
 |
| Posted on July 21, 2004 at 01:42 by Jon |
Elixir artists Siko and Matt Clarke are the authors of this month's developer diary on Gamespot, which is fast becoming a very enjoyable collection of diary entries. This third installment covers, as you might expect, character design and art creation, from the initial paper drawings, to clay models and finally the finished 3D model on the computer. Well worth a read. Thanks, OpFlash.

| Previews page update |
 |
| Posted on July 20, 2004 at 10:33 by Jon |
Having remained in hibernation for a couple of months, I dusted off the previews page today and updated it with all the main previews, interviews and developer diaries I've linked to in the past 6 months. It makes for some good reading if you have an hour to waste...

| Updated release date |
 |
| Posted on July 12, 2004 at 02:30 by Jon |
OK - for some of you this isn't anything new. However, as the release date approaches, it's becoming rather stupid to keep saying "Q3 2004". So, I had a look round a couple of sites (like Amazon and other gaming websites), and came to the conclusion that September 28th seems to be the choice of most. So - until I hear anything official - September 28th is the date I'm saying.
In related news, there is stillno date available for the demo, but I am making an educated guess at early August. More when I get it.
Finally, welcome to Dennis (who wrote the post below this). As he says, he's here to help out with the screenshots section, and his assistance is much appreciated. Welcome!

| Small screenshots update |
 |
| Posted on July 11, 2004 at 12:14 by Dennis |
I updated the thumbnails in the screenshots section. Nothing major, but now the thumbs are more in feel with the look of EvilPlanet.
And while we're on the subject, I'll be taking over updating the screenshots section from now on. Some of you may know me from the forums as "Dennis" (surprise!), and some of you might remember me from the RepRev forum as "monoxism".
Anyway, I'm lean, mean and here to stay, get used to it punks! :)

| Rooms and Items pages updated |
 |
| Posted on June 29, 2004 at 10:14 by Jon |
Taking information only from the screenshots and previews in the public eye (so for those of you looking for spoilers and unreleased information, sorry!), I have put together a load of info pages for the different rooms and items in Evil Genius. Thanks, as always, to Dennis for the awesome pictures. Enjoy looking through them - they should whet your appetite for the game somewhat! It's all here.

| Screenshot / Image competition |
 |
| Posted on June 26, 2004 at 01:39 by Jon |
You probably know about my wallpaper and funny picture competition (if not, there are full details here - you can win an official Republic: The Revolution CD!). Anyway - the closing date is the end of this month, so if you want to get a chance to win one of the two prizes we have, get your imaging program booted up :).

| Six new screenshots |
 |
| Posted on June 26, 2004 at 01:33 by Jon |
Some cool new screenshots, which actually show off some items, if not rooms, which have not surfaced publically before. They are currently here at Gamespot (warning: some items shown are new, therefore possible spoilers), and they will soon be uploaded to Evil Planet. It's good to get these new screenshots out, because it means I can start writing a bit more about the different rooms and items, now much of the detail is in the public knowledge.

| Character images updated |
 |
| Posted on June 25, 2004 at 09:59 by Jon |
Although Vivendi have, fairly enough, not allowed me to post character information, it seems reasonable to assume that my own images of major characters that have appeared in screenshots are OK to put online. My characters page therefore has links to to images ("sexified" by Dennis - thanks!) for the major characters. Enjoy... and look out for further updates soon.

| Screenshots page added |
 |
| Posted on June 25, 2004 at 08:31 by Jon |
23 new screenshots and other images have been added to the site - a long overdue update of the E3 2004 and Eli images that surfaced in the last month. The GUI of many screenshots is already out of date, but otherwise they're pretty good! Check them out here.

Alexis, the second or three different evil genius' that you can play as, is being slowly unveiled by Vivendi. This excellant screenshot from IGN shows her off in all her curvy glory.

| New competition: Wallpaper/picture creation |
 |
| Posted on June 16, 2004 at 10:17 by Jon |
The third summer competition here at Evil Planet is a little different from the previous two, and therefore will hopefully appeal to all you artists (or simply anyone with a sense of humour and a copy of paint). More Repoublic CD's are up for grabs, and good entries will be displayed on this site... for more information check out this forum thread.

 |
| Posted on June 15, 2004 at 11:40 by Jon |
Many thanks to Alex, lead programmer on Evil Genius, for being the first to reply with some answers to my mini-interview that I sent around the Elixir team. It's a enjoyable little read, so go check it out.

| Major updates ahead! |
 |
| Posted on June 14, 2004 at 09:47 by Jon |
I've been very aware of the fact that since I started testing Evil Genius, the amount of time I've had available to update the site has been pretty short. Luckily, however, the guys at Elixir are happy for me to spend time updating the site from work, and so almost daily updates should be coming from now on.
Every single section of the website is getting an update. New screenshots are promised and will be online soon. The rooms and items section will be fully updated, with as many details about each room and each item that I'm allowed to post. The characters (and there are literally hundreds) will all be mentioned and discussed.
I've also sent a mini interview to many of the Elixir team members - if they can spend time answering them, which may be hard as we are really busy, then they should make a welcome addition to the site too.
For now, I've given the FAQ a bit of a spring clean. It's still not very long though, so if you guys have any questions which you would like adding to the list (and answering if I can!) then feel free to contact us.

| More competition entries... |
 |
| Posted on May 26, 2004 at 01:44 by Jon |
Whilst I have been keeping myself busy over here, I am rather stupidly forgotten to post any more of the competition entries that were submitted for the first Evil Planet competition a week or so back. So, without further ado, please enjoy this excellent entry from Dennis. It didn't win the competition, but was nevertheless awarded a prize for being funny and imaginative...
You can also see the entries from ][ceDragon and Splintercell which, whilst excellent, didn't win a prize. Enjoy!
Don't forget that the current competition is running until the end of this month, and is unbelievably easy to enter. All we wan you to do is, in 50 words or less, explain why Evil Genius will rock... all the details and place to submit your answer are here.

| Evil Genius testing diaries |
 |
| Posted on May 23, 2004 at 11:31 by Jon |
The first of hopefully many diaries of my time spent testing Evil Genius has been posted. For simplicities sake, I am doing it on the forums, and you can catch up with all the info (or at least everything I am at liberty to say) over here. Later, you can use the handy link in the "Exclusives" section of the left hand side menu.

| Working at Elixir |
 |
| Posted on May 22, 2004 at 10:08 by Jon |
For those who don't know, the webmaster of this site (i.e. me!) recently got the opportunity to spend just over two months at Elixir Studios and test Evil Genius. I know for some that testing computer games and getting paid sounds like a dream job - and I guess it is, but it's gonna be tight making ends meet in London! Anyway - I start work on Monday and I'll be keeping you guys informed about what I am doing with online diaries on the forums - first one going up soon. Information here.

| New preview |
 |
| Posted on May 19, 2004 at 02:12 by Jon |
My hosts Gamespy recently sat down with Demis to take a look at the most recent post E3 build of the game. The preview is pretty short but full of interesting pieces of information. Here's a paragraph to get you hooked...
Our demo with Hassabis gave us a chance to see a few of the other henchmen who fight on your side. First up was Dr. Cranium -- a female cosmetics scientist gone bad. Like most of the graphics in Evil Genius, her look is bright and cartoony, wearing a white lab coat and having huge purple hair in the style of the Bride of Frankenstein, complete with requisite white streak running through it. Fittingly, Cranium takes care of business with a purple perfume powder, bringing enemies choking to their knees. We also got a look at Dr. Mezmero, a rotund magician with the ability to drain the will of his enemies. For example, it's possible to use Mezmero to make investigators forget why they came to the island in the first place, after which they simply wander back to the casino, never to be heard from again.
It also confirms that the release date remains September 2004. Read it all here.

If you missed the video/audio feed of Demis' interview with Gamespy Livewire, subscribers to FilePlanet can download a copy of the interview here (first 15 mins of an hour long video). I expect it will appear for non-subscribers soon - if not, I'll see what I can do about getting it for you.
