Competition Winners
The details on the winners and "nearly rans" in the Evil Planet competition
Thanks to everyone who entered the exclusive Evil Planet competition held to celebrate the release of Evil Genius. We had some cool prizes and it showed - we had hundreds of entries, with a real flurry coming on the last day.
So - I set about reading through the entries. To remind you, I was asking for a name, a bio and explanations of two special abilities for a prototype henchman (two images of different henchmen were listed). Once I had thrown out 5 entries that were blank, 2 entries which were in a foreign language (sorry!), 8 entries which didn't make sense, 1 entry from an Elixian (thanks!), 1 entry which was identical to a current henchman, and 4 more which were just not...suitable, I sitll had a pile of them to go through.
It was so damn hard! OK - some were not as good as others. With some you could see that people really didn't bother too much. But that accounted for about 30% - how to decide between the other 70%!?!?!?
Well, specifically I looked for the following:
- Effort
- Cool ideas, of course
- Ideas that *could* work in the game
- Special abilities which didn't just cause health damage
- The X factor which made it stand out
When it came to the winner of the first prize, things were a little simpler. Only about 15% of entrants said they could take up the first prize offer of a trip to Elixir. Deciding who should get a game, who should get a poster and who should get a Republic CD, however, were not so easy.
Anyway - enough babble. I had to cull a good deal of awesome ideas, and I apologise to those who didn't make the final cut. I also would like to point out that these decisions are final - if you think your entry was better than others, then I'm sorry - I'm simply not in the position to discuss it.
So - entries are posted here, and here are the final winners:
